Recently, Wanxiang (Shanghai) Technology Co., Ltd.’s “Wanxiang Brake System Smart Factory” was selected as a Shanghai Advanced-Level Smart Factory for 2025, marking official recognition from both the government and industry of the company’s innovative practices and achievements in the field of intelligent manufacturing.
Wanxiang Shanghai Technology, in collaboration with the Wanxiang Qianchao Digital Intelligence Innovation Center, has carried out digital and intelligent innovation across the entire production and manufacturing process, creating a number of distinctive application scenarios. It has systematically built an intelligent factory system covering R&D design, production operations, production management, operational management, and supply chain collaboration, effectively enhancing both production efficiency and product quality.
The “Smart Factory for the Universal Braking System” is equipped with multiple automated production lines, fitted with sensors and control systems that can collect critical production parameters in real time. Relying on an MES system, the factory centrally manages and controls production line data, enabling end-to-end digital management—from the issuance of production plans and the flow of operations to quality inspection.
The factory has established a parts production-line traceability system, deploying scanning cameras at each workstation to record data throughout the entire lifecycle of each part—from its entry into the production line to its exit. By using the product-code query system, operators can scan the individual part’s code to trace back the process parameters applied at each stage, effectively supporting rapid identification and resolution of quality issues and enhancing the precision of quality control.
The factory has also introduced digital quality inspection equipment, such as three-coordinate measuring machines, into key production processes. These devices automatically collect and analyze product quality data and upload it to the MES system in real time. The data is then correlated with production process parameters for continuous improvement, forming a closed-loop quality management system.
Smart manufacturing is not only a key pathway for enterprises to enhance quality and efficiency, but also the core engine for achieving sustainable development. All companies under Wanxiang are actively integrating internal innovation resources, collaborating on digital and intelligent innovation systems, and focusing on the practical application of core technologies to continuously deepen their smart manufacturing initiatives. Since the beginning of this year, Wanxiang Group has added one new national-level smart factory and six advanced-level smart factories in Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Hubei, and other regions. Going forward, each company will continue to focus on critical areas such as production, quality, and equipment, further deepening the integration of digital and intelligent technologies, building end-to-end data-driven intelligent closed-loop systems, and continually elevating their enterprises’ smart manufacturing capabilities.
