On July 8, the 55th-anniversary conference of Wanxiang Entrepreneurship was held. Lu Weiding delivered an important speech titled “Our Responsibility.” With the approval of the Board of Directors, Comrades Guan Dayuan and Ni Pin were awarded the title of “Lifetime Employees.” Shen Zhijun presided over the meeting.

In his speech, Lu Weiding reviewed the 55-year journey of Wanxiang’s entrepreneurial endeavors, paying tribute and expressing gratitude to the pioneers who laid the foundation for Wanxiang’s success! He also paid tribute and expressed gratitude to all Wanxiang employees who have participated in and witnessed the development of Wanxiang over the past 55 years! In particular, he extended congratulations and thanks to Guan Dayuan, Ni Pin, and all “Lifetime Employees” throughout the years.

Lu Weiding emphasized that, as we celebrate the 55th anniversary of Wanxiang, our predecessors have laid down an outstanding foundation for us. We enjoy far more advantages than others—and yet, we also carry a heavier burden. It is my responsibility, and indeed our collective responsibility, to build on the achievements of those who came before us, continue to pioneer and forge ahead, and ensure that Wanxiang, at age 55, becomes even better and endures longer.

What is responsibility? Lu Weiding points out that responsibility means being loyal and committed to one’s duties and tasks with earnestness and integrity. Responsibility is about taking on one’s assigned responsibilities; it is about being entrusted with and appointed to shoulder those responsibilities. Responsibility is the foundation of being a person, the cornerstone of achieving success, and the path to personal growth and excellence.

What is our responsibility? Lu Weiding pointed out that each generation has its own responsibilities. The generation of the Chairman blazed trails and broke down barriers during the reform period, boldly venturing into the world through opening up. Back then, it was through “pioneering” that township and village enterprises rose to prominence across China, achieving the goal of “adding a zero after ten years of struggle.” Now, it’s our generation’s turn: building on the achievements forged by those who came before us, we must “create”—through creation, entrepreneurship, and innovation—to open up entirely new horizons and enable China’s private enterprises to make a stunning emergence on the global stage. That is precisely our responsibility! How can we create these new horizons? The vehicle for doing so is Wanxiang Innovation & Energy City. Each generation has its own Long March; let “adding a city after ten years of struggle” carry forward the spirit of “adding a zero after ten years of struggle”—that is our “Long March”!

What is the “collective” responsibility? Lu Weiding pointed out that our collective responsibility is the responsibility of all Wanxiang employees as a unified whole, while each individual Wanxiang employee bears their own personal responsibility. Only when everyone fulfills their respective duties and fully leverages their talents can our collective responsibility truly be put into practice. For corporate employees, the core responsibility is corporate responsibility itself—corporate responsibility is the ultimate destination of individual responsibility, the foundation upon which family responsibilities rest, and the bedrock of social responsibility. Corporate responsibility, also known as the “responsibility-driven enterprise,” means taking full responsibility for one’s own career; this is precisely taking responsibility for the enterprise and creating a responsible enterprise. Every Wanxiang employee must devote themselves wholeheartedly to the practice of the “Three Innovations,” vigorously promote the spirit of model workers (the spirit of labor and the spirit of craftsmanship), deeply embody the spirit of Lu Guanqiu, and take full responsibility for their assigned positions, their companies, their careers, and their personal time. Time is life—and taking responsibility for one’s own time is, in essence, taking responsibility for one’s own life!

Lu Weiding calls on everyone at Wanxiang to step out of their comfort zones, proactively volunteer for challenging roles, and take the lead in fully embracing the “Three Innovations.” He urges all employees to earnestly practice the “Three Truths” (executives must truly devote themselves wholeheartedly; Party members and cadres must truly set exemplary standards; and all staff must genuinely roll up their sleeves and get to work). In this transformative journey, Wanxiang Group—now 55 years old—is poised to reinvent itself, striving ever higher and becoming stronger than ever before!
