Yu Linsheng is a welding section chief at Wanxiang Intelligent Manufacturing Co., Ltd. When he first joined Wanxiang, he worked as a CNC lathe operator. Several years later, he was sent to an external unit to learn robot welding programming and became a welding operator. He subsequently held positions as team leader and commissioning engineer, giving his all and excelling in every role he took on. After being appointed welding section chief, he has actively practiced “5S” management with a sense of responsibility—always deeply concerned about every task and doing his utmost in everything he does. He diligently implements production plans, leads his team members to ensure timely delivery, increase output, and boost profitability, contributing his hard work and expertise to the company’s development.

The welding section accounts for more than half of the workshop’s total output value, placing considerable production pressure on it. Whenever a new product is launched, rapidly achieving steady growth in output—what’s known as “output ramp-up”—becomes an urgent priority. For section chief Yu Linsheng, this is not merely a task; it’s a heavy responsibility he carries on his shoulders.

In the front and rear frame projects for Company B, users demanded that the new product reach the specified production volume within a very short timeframe. Time was tight, the task was heavy, and as the delivery date drew nearer day by day, it felt like a sword hanging overhead, each minute and second piercing our nerves. Yu Linsheng responded swiftly: “We’ve got to ramp up production—rearrange the shift schedules, notify everyone, and work overtime. Everyone will have to put in extra effort during this period!”

Optimizing material handling, streamlining process rhythms, and enhancing staff skills... Yu Linsheng is racing against time to boost production, fully dedicating himself to his work—even sometimes working late into the night. “Even at 2 or 3 a.m., we conduct on-site inspections every hour to ensure that production runs smoothly.” Effort never betrays those who put their heart into it. Thanks to his and his team members’ hard work, the weekly output of EK subframes has increased by 25%, and the products were delivered smoothly ahead of schedule.

As a section chief, Yu Linsheng plays a crucial role in the production system—serving as a vital link between upper and lower levels. He ensures the implementation of production plans, manages the section’s on-site operations effectively, coordinates and guides team members, and allocates resources to organize production activities.

On-site 5S, customized arrangement, handling of leftover materials... Faced with the daily, seemingly trivial tasks, Yu Linsheng never slackened; instead, he approached them with great seriousness, striving to get every detail just right. He requires employees to clean daily, conduct a thorough internal cleaning of their work section once a week, and regularly repaint the workshop floor. Starting from small things and focusing on details, employees have developed excellent habits in their daily routines, giving the work section a completely new look.

Whenever a new employee joins the team, he always starts from the very basics, standardizing their operational procedures—for example, conducting training sessions at regular intervals and emphasizing key safety precautions during daily morning meetings—thereby effectively ensuring that production is both safe and of high quality. In addition, he actively puts the “mentorship” system into practice, passing on specialized knowledge—including weld-path programming and fixture adjustments for welding robots—to younger employees. With his guidance, four team leaders have successfully mastered their skills and become highly competent professionals capable of working independently.

Having been rooted in the frontline for 15 years, Yu Linsheng has accumulated experience and honed his skills through production. Today, he has become a key member of the workshop, leading or participating in numerous technological upgrade projects and achieving remarkable results. Among these, the “DAEA Swing-Arm Welding Line Optimization Project for Improving Labor Efficiency and Enhancing Quality” and the “Welding Line Modification Project to Reduce Waste of Welding Wire and Mixed Gases” respectively won the Second Prize and the Excellence Award in the 2023 Wanxiang Smart Manufacturing Technology Innovation Awards.

“I’ve been working at Wanxiang for so many years—starting as a young man and now, in my thirties, I’ve even got a wife and kids. We’ve all come to regard Wanxiang as our home.” During the interview, Yu Lingsheng’s words frequently revealed his deep affection for the company. From being inexperienced and naive to becoming steady and capable, he has devoted his youth to Wanxiang and has continued to grow alongside the company’s development. When asked about the future, his response was remarkably straightforward, always keeping his primary job close to heart: “Just do my job well, keep striving for perfection, and rely on my own efforts and abilities to move closer to the goals I hold dear.”
