Optimizing Management, Boosting Efficiency | Speed-Constant Drive Shaft Factory Surpasses 100 Million Yuan in Monthly Output—A New Record High

In September, the constant-velocity drive shaft factory’s output value exceeded 110 million yuan, reaching a new all-time high. Data shows that the factory’s direct labor productivity in September increased by 33.65% year-on-year and by 11.52% month-on-month. Its monthly output value rose by 28.50% year-on-year and by 11.82% month-on-month. Relying on its extensive technological accumulation and outstanding product R&D capabilities, the constant-velocity drive shaft factory has established long-term, stable partnerships with major OEMs. Driven by strong market demand, the factory has developed a series-based, standardized product system and optimized its production and sales layout. How can it build on its previous “excellence” to strive for even greater “progress”? By optimizing management, emphasizing precision, and prioritizing practicality, the factory has delivered an impressive performance.
Addressing the issue of low work motivation among former workshop team leaders, maintenance technicians, inspectors, and other staff due to unclear job responsibilities, the Production Operations Center conducted a further analysis of these personnel’s duties, clearly defining the responsible individuals for each production line as well as each person’s KPI targets. On the premise of ensuring safe and high-quality production, these responsibilities are linked to the completion rate of production on each line, effectively boosting employees’ production enthusiasm.
To further enhance employees’ awareness of refined management, at the daily morning meeting, Yan Kai, head of the Production and Operations Center, reviews the production lines that failed to complete their tasks the previous day and the equipment malfunctions that remain unresolved. Heads of various functional departments and workshop managers clearly identify specific timelines, numerical targets, and responsible individuals for each issue. Similarly, workshop managers impose equally stringent requirements on team leaders and supervisors. By carefully considering timeframes, numerical data, and assigned responsibilities, workshops are able to thoroughly analyze problems and establish a feedback, analysis, and tracking mechanism, thereby improving the efficiency of problem-solving.
By focusing on meticulous management and enhancing efficiency, the constant-velocity drive shaft factory has achieved tangible results in boosting output value and adding new momentum. However, optimization is an endless journey. Moving forward, the Production and Operations Center will continue to implement a series of innovative measures aimed at upgrading staff skills, strengthening the reserve workforce, and fostering employees’ competitive spirit. Our goal is to enable 50% of operators to complete entire line changeovers and adjustments within three months—thus eliminating production line stoppages caused by the absence of certain adjustment personnel—and continuously improving equipment utilization and labor productivity across the production lines.
Meanwhile, the factory plans to first select six production lines and, by adding edge-of-line information registration tablets and Andon systems, implement a tiered escalation mechanism for all issues—such as equipment malfunctions, quality problems, and logistical bottlenecks—that cause line stoppages. This will accelerate the flow of edge-of-line information, enable rapid responses, and facilitate swift problem resolution. The goal is to reduce the average repair time per production line by 50% within two months, thereby kickstarting a positive cycle in production management, further building up momentum for sustained growth, and striving toward even higher production value targets!
