The Department of Water Resources and the Department of Economy and Information Technology of Zhejiang Province, along with other relevant departments, jointly awarded Wanxiang Qianchao Co., Ltd. the title of 2023 Zhejiang Provincial Water-Saving Benchmark Enterprise.
Wanxiang Qianchao, guided by its mission of "Making the air cleaner," adheres to sustainable development. With improving water-use efficiency at its core, it strengthens water-saving management and technological advancement, accelerates the transformation of industrial water-use practices, continuously refines water-saving systems such as water circulation, implements centralized liquid supply, collects rainwater, treats wastewater, promotes recycling, comprehensively enhances industrial water-use efficiency, and drives the development of water-saving enterprises.
Saving is a matter of awareness; systems provide the guarantee; inspections serve as the method; and performance evaluations are the means. Wanxiang Qianchao has introduced a detailed energy management system that closely links various energy consumption levels and management indicators with the company’s economic responsibility assessment. It has set a stringent annual reduction target of at least 5% for evaluation purposes, fostering a habit of water conservation among everyone, at all times, and in every place, thereby driving the company’s energy-saving efforts. To effectively manage water resources, the company has strengthened organizational leadership by establishing a three-tier management structure at the company, department, and team levels. The general manager, department heads, and team leaders serve as the leaders of this organizational network. They have developed implementation plans for energy management and, using a quota-based approach, signed water- and energy-saving target responsibility agreements with each department, workshop, and team. These teams then further assign specific targets to individual employees. With the full participation of all staff, the company is vigorously promoting these initiatives through measures such as "daily inspections, end-of-month evaluations, and timely rewards and penalties," thus establishing a long-term, efficient, and resource-conserving working mechanism.
The company is also actively “expanding sources and conserving resources” in water usage through technological innovation. It has built a rainwater collection system that captures rooftop rainwater, which, after undergoing multi-stage sedimentation, is used to replenish cooling water. The substitution rate of non-conventional water (rainwater) has reached nearly 20%, significantly reducing the consumption of tap water. The company has adopted smart meters to enable real-time data collection on water usage, allowing it to monitor and analyze water consumption at any time, promptly identify and address issues, and effectively reduce waste. By implementing a centralized fluid supply system, the company now uses a single fluid supply unit to provide cutting fluids for multiple identical metalworking machines, and after recovery and treatment, these fluids are recycled. This not only helps maintain the quality of cutting fluids and ensures high machining precision but also greatly reduces the labor intensity associated with replacing cutting fluids on individual machines, while simultaneously cutting down on both tap water and cutting fluid consumption. The company has replaced open cooling towers with closed-loop cooling towers, dramatically reducing evaporation of cooling water and thus lowering water consumption. All cooling systems are equipped with pressure and temperature sensors, and variable-frequency drives automatically adjust parameters such as pump pressure and fan speed, achieving significant water-saving effects.
